“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” – Albert Einstein
I grew up in hotels between Andorra and Catalonia. My parents were busy hotel managers and learnt to get involved in helping others at an early age. I was 10 when I discovered my passion for animals and nature and 18 when I decided to study tourism. A choice that gave me the means to easily find work abroad when I finished my studies. And eventually, the reason I met Jochem on the other side of the world, in New Zealand!
The people I met both as a traveller and as an Expat contributed to who I am today. That is why through this blog I want to inspire people to do what they think they cannot do: travel, discover, get out of your comfort zone. This project is a learning path to self-development and, at the same time, a challenge to create a space to share and contribute.
“We do not live to eat and make money. We eat and make money to be able to enjoy life. That is what life means and what life is for. ” – George Mallory
But how to experience joy? That is why we are on this blog. For me, joy comes mostly from travelling. Ideally, while sitting on top of a bike. Back in 2010 I left the Netherlands to go on what turned into a 3+ year-long trip from Asia to New Zealand. Alba and I met, connected over our passion for travel and tourism, and moved back to Europe together.
That was the start of four years of Tourism Management studies for me. Although I still had plenty of opportunities to sate my wanderlust, I also had to find ways to make everyday life an adventure as well. I cannot say I have found the magic formula yet, but I hope to inspire others and get inspired by developing and contributing to J&A go!
